Semi-trucks are large vehicles that can be dangerous on the road if they happen to malfunction. This is why it’s important that regular maintenance checks are performed to ensure that parts are in place and are in good working order. Here are some of the parts you need to check now for their stability and use before hitting the road.

  • Gas struts – trucks carry heavy loads and they need all the help they can get. Gas struts use compressed air to hold the doors of a truck closed. If they are damaged, a sudden bump can have the truck’s cargo spilling out in the back. This is why they need to be replaced immediately if broken.
  • Oil pans – Engines need lubrication. This is especially important for truck engines which often have to travel long distances. If an oil pan is broken or leaking, an engine will end up grinding to a halt. Check on them before going on a long trip or while on the road.

Tires – Truckers often cover 400 miles a day. That’s a lot of punishment to put your tires through. Tires need to be able to handle the loads that your truck would be carrying and should be appropriately-sized. Additionally, they need to have the proper air pressure and are not worn out. Proper inflation and maintenance ensures you won’t have a blowup on the road.
